Hiking on the Wiedweg

The Wied, the longest river in the Westerwald, gives its name to the approx. 117 km long Wiedweg trail. The Wied significantly characterises the western part of the Westerwald and shapes large parts of the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park.

The starting point of the hiking trail is Hachenburg, from where you are first guided towards the source of the Wied. On narrow, near-natural paths right next to the still small body of water, you will reach Dreifelden on the Westerwälder Seenplatte. On your hike to the mouth of the Rhine, you are sometimes close to the Wied and walk along its banks on narrow paths. Sometimes you move away, skip a loop and enjoy the view of the glistening water from the heights. Charming views and unspoilt nature are guaranteed.

The long-distance hiking trail is divided into 8 daily stages and can also be hiked individually.
