Description

In Meudt, you visit the oldest preserved town hall in the Westerwald (built at the end of the 16th century). During your route, you pass the water castle Neuroth in Bilkheim, admire the bright white parish church of St. Adelphus in Salz, and see the historic windmill of Weltersburg. The Reifenberger small castle and the Rothenberg in Guckheim are also impressive. You explore the hunting and natural history museum in Hahn am See and enjoy a refreshing swim in the lake between Elbingen and Hahn am See on warm days.

Approach

Motorway exits:

  • From Cologne: take A59 and A3 to B255 in Montabaur, take exit 40-Montabaur on A3
  • From Frankfurt: follow A66 and A3 to B255 in Heiligenroth, take exit 40-Montabaur on A3
  • From Koblenz: take B49 and B255 to L300 in Moschheim, take exit on B255 towards U3/Westerburg/Meudt/Moschheim/WAB
  • From Siegen: take A45 and B54 to Secker Str. in Waldmühlen
  • From Limburg: take A3 to B255 in Heiligenroth, take exit 40-Montabaur on A3

Public transport

Nearest train stations:

  • Westerburg (7 km from Elbingen via railway track)
  • Willmenrod (2.5 km from Weltersburg via K 95)

Parking

Directions

Start in Meudt, on Grabenstraße, heading northeast. Ride through fields and forests, over ascents and descents, and pass sights along the way. The route runs on paths through fields and woods as well as on lightly trafficked district roads. The route takes about 2 hours without breaks.

Distribute the weight of your equipment on your body and bike. Choose appropriate clothing for various temperatures and pack a change of clothes. Remember tools and a small emergency kit.
