Description

Use this hike to get to know Bad Marienberg better. Let your feet explore the barefoot path, experience the Apothecary Medicinal Plant Garden with all your senses, learn interesting facts about basalt in the Basalt Park, feed animals in the wildlife park, enjoy the fantastic view from Hedwig Tower, or embark on a small adventure in the climbing forest. The spa town also offers a variety of options for a break. Before you reach today's destination, you will pass the legendary Wolfsteine - impressive basalt rock formations.

Public transport

The Hessische Landesbahn usually runs hourly between the two stations (travel time approx. 6 minutes).

Directions

The connecting path from Nistertal-Bad Marienberg station to the main path is about 1 km long. In Unnau-Korb a connecting path about 600 m long leads you to the station.

The connecting paths are marked with a green "W" on a yellow background and the signposts have a yellow arrowhead.

Safety instructions

If you think certain sections are impassable for you, you should bypass them. Especially in adverse weather, natural paths may have muddy and slippery stretches.
Especially in autumn, be aware that leaves on the ground may hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. Expect such path impairments when hiking.
Although the path is very well marked throughout, for safety reasons you should always carry a suitable hiking map or download the free app "Rheinland-Pfalz erleben" .

Equipment

Wear sturdy footwear as well as weather-appropriate, practical clothing that protects against cold and wet or heat and sun.
Bring enough fluids. There are not refreshments available everywhere.
Please wear hiking boots suitable for the path, offering sufficient grip also on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths.

Tips

Park your car at the destination and first take the train to the start point of your route. Then you can hike back relaxed and without time pressure.
