In the tour planner we inform you under the tab "Current info" about temporary route changes, closures and detours.
Lovely river and stream valleys like the Wiedtal and the Fockenbachtal alternate on our hike on the W2 with great panoramic views on the heights of the Westerwald, for example the Bärenkopp at 304 m elevation. The wild Hochscheider Seifen, which we hike through after this wide view, is a natural beauty with eroded basalt basins and rock walls.

Free parking lot Marktstraße, Waldbreitbach
From the free parking lot Marktstraße, we follow the WesterwaldSteig access path to the Wied. Here we walk a short distance to the right and left over the pedestrian bridge. On the other side of the Wied, we keep left and follow the W2, which soon runs a bit above the Wied in the forest. It goes downhill again back to the Wied and over another bridge. We turn immediately right and arrive at the Kreuzkapelle built in 1694. After the chapel, we go left up over the L255 uphill into the forest. We pass the cemetery (viewpoint) before the W2 leads us behind the Marienhaus convent of the Franciscan sisters past 2 shelters in a curve to Glockscheid. It goes past the water reservoir to another shelter with a nice view. Shortly afterwards, we pass the Luh chapel and soon have a wonderful panoramic view. We continue a short distance on the Wäller Tour Bärenkopp before turning right onto the W2 again, which leads us down into the lovely Fockenbachtal. Here we climb the beautiful Verscheider Seifen up to Verscheid. After the church, we cross the main road (the inn "Paganetti’s Zur Erholung" is located a little bit above) and walk to the B1/W2 intersection (the detour to the "Bärenkopp" viewpoint is worth it - about 500 m). We follow the W2 downhill through the Hochscheider Seifen and pass the "White Cross" viewpoint (about 250 m branch). It continues downhill back to Waldbreitbach to the Catholic church Maria Himmelfahrt and back to the parking lot in town.
