In the tour planner we inform you under the tab "Current info" about temporary route changes, closures and detours.
The circular route can be started at the Heimathaus next to the church. From there, it leads through the district Wallroth down into the Hanfbach valley, where the Luise mine used to be. The historic mining industry can be sensed through the existing chimney stacks. The Hanfbach valley is left again uphill towards Jungeroth. From the heights, there is a beautiful view over the area around Buchholz. The path leads through Jungeroth towards Kölsch-Büllesbach. For families, a short detour to the multi-generation place, offering sports and play opportunities for everyone and inviting to rest, is recommended. Then, the path leads over Heppenberg, with a nice view into the Hanfbach valley and the districts Krautscheid and Seifen. Afterwards, it leads down to Krautscheid and Seifen. There is again the possibility for a short break at the community center in Seifen, where children can find variety and good playground facilities. Now it gets athletic, as you climb from the Hanfbach valley towards the Buchholz moor. The elevation gain is worth it, as you pass right by the nature reserve "Buchholzer Moor" with a natural heath landscape and the legendary "Lökestein". After crossing the L272, you reach the villages Krummenast and Oberelles. From here, there is a nice view over another valley, known to many as "Bahndamm". This is the next intermediate destination and leads back to Buchholz.
The path is mostly asphalted. The route is manageable on foot or by bike even in wetter seasons. There are play facilities for children, and especially on weekends at the destination in Buchholz, the Gasthof Stroh offers the opportunity to refresh after the walk. The circular route around Buchholz offers walkers various attractive perspectives on the village Buchholz and its districts. Numerous information boards in the nature reserve of Buchholz Moor explain the background of the heath landscape and the Lökestein.
Approaching from all directions, the church with its distinctive tower serves as a landmark in the village center.
There are direct bus connections to Bonn, Siegburg, Neuwied, Linz, Altenkirchen, Hennef, and Bad Honnef.
