Hiking Trail
Route profile
Notice
In the tour planner we inform you under the tab "Current info" about temporary route changes, closures and detours.
The circular hiking route starts at the outdoor pool parking lot and runs along a beautiful birch avenue to the large fish pond. There the hiking trail turns left. After a slight ascent, you reach a wayside shrine and can enjoy the wide view over the Limburg Basin. In good visibility, you can see the “Great Feldberg” in the Taunus to the southeast from here. A few meters further you arrive at a natural monument about 425 years old, popularly called “Dick Eich” (the thick oak). The path continues to the home ground of the RW Hadamar football club and to the barbecue area with a small playground, which offers a shady resting place before the path turns right into the forest. Passing the shooting range house, the route continues into the mixed forest, which is especially colorful in autumn. Soon you reach small, former fish ponds fed by the Weiersbach, which provide ecological niches for various amphibian species and the rare pond mussels. Between March and April, the trail can be closed to motor vehicles because many toads and frogs migrate here to spawn, finding good living conditions in this biotope. Finally, you leave the forest and approach the starting point again, with a good view of the impressive building of the former seminary.
Train connection to Hadamar station is available.
Parking is available at the outdoor pool on Hexenschluchtweg in Hadamar.
The RWW No. 1 starts behind the outdoor pool parking lot Hadamar/ Hexenschlucht.
Wear sturdy footwear as well as weather-appropriate, practical clothing that protects you from cold and wet or heat and sun.
Bring enough fluids with you. Refreshment options are not available everywhere.
Please wear appropriate hiking boots for the trail that provide sufficient support even on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths.
If you find certain sections of the trail impassable for you, you should bypass them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural trails can become muddy and slippery.
Particularly in autumn, it should be noted that fallen leaves on the ground may cover unevenness, roots, stones, or holes on the path. You should expect such trail impairments when you go hiking.
Although the trail is consistently well marked, for safety reasons you should always carry a suitable hiking map with you.
Discover the natural monument "Dick Eich" (the thick oak).
