Description

The panorama route is continuously marked and runs around Fluterschen. It goes on well-maintained forest paths past the so-called "Erbel", a former quarry and with 325.6 m the highest point of Fluterschen.

Some sections of the path are lovingly equipped with small wooden bridges or mulched path areas. Here and there we also find a small shelter where we can comfortably have a picnic. At the southern edge of the village we pass a magnificent oak tree, which with a circumference of over 6 meters radiates a very special power. Towards the end of the route we cross a small brook and reach a small natural playground and an orchard meadow. Here we can take a break and the children can romp around to their heart's content.

The nearest gastronomy is located in the next village in Almersbach or in the district town Altenkirchen (less than 3 km from Fluterschen).

Public transport

From Altenkirchen you can also reach Fluterschen by bus. Lines 121 or line 122. run here.

On Saturdays and Sundays, line 121 also offers call-line rides.

Altenkirchen itself is wonderfully accessible by train from Cologne, Bonn, or Siegen. Siegen-Altenkirchen even has a direct connection. From Cologne, you have to change trains at Au (Windeck) station.

Parking

The parking lot at the northern end of the village has an area of more than 1500 m². There are also parking spaces in the village itself at the former Koch inn, where the bus loop is also located. From here you can also start the hike, the trail markings are easy to spot here.

Directions

At the beginning of the hike, you go through a sunny meadow landscape, passing the dog training area. On the left is a large farm with stables, the "Brauershof". It has a tradition dating back to 1620. Shortly thereafter we pass one of the old farmsteads in the village itself, where there is also an old functioning bakehouse.

We leave the village again and reach the forest area with the former mining area. Then the view opens to the south, into the Puderbach area. We cross the L 267 and soon reach "Hahn's Oak." No one knows its exact age, but it has certainly experienced a lot. The path continues downhill and we look over the varied Altenkirchen hill landscape. A small bridge leads us to a natural rest and play area before we reach our starting point again after 350 m.

Tips

Not far from the route lies the Romanesque Basilica Almersbach, from the 12th century, which you should definitely visit before your journey home.
