Nordic Walking Tour Montabaur - Biebrichskopf Route

Approach

Arrival via the A3 from Cologne or Frankfurt
• Exit the motorway at the Montabaur exit
• Turn right onto B255 towards Montabaur
• Exit the federal road at the Niederelbert exit
• Turn left onto K168 Koblenzer Straße towards the town center
• After approx. 500 m (just after the town entrance) turn left onto Albertstraße
• Immediately after, turn left onto Spessartstraße up to the intersection with Eifelstraße
• Turn left here and follow the road

Arrival via the B49
• Exit the federal road at the Niederelbert exit
• Turn left onto K168 Koblenzer Straße towards the town center
• After approx. 500 m (just after the town entrance) turn left onto Albertstraße
• Immediately after, turn left onto Spessartstraße up to the intersection with Eifelstraße
• Turn left here and follow the road

Directions

From the starting point, pass the indoor swimming pool and cross its parking lot. Where the Biebrichsbach flows under the road, turn left onto the forest path alongside the stream and continue following the path along the creek. At the end of the path, go straight ahead and carefully cross the state road L327 diagonally to the right. Follow the wide paved road into the forest. After about 750 m, turn right onto the first wide, paved forest path. Follow this well-developed path through the "Mittelwald" and past the Horressen water reservoir for about 2 km until the path ends. Then at the junction (with old iron railing), turn left and take the path uphill. After 1 km, the path ends at a well-developed crossroad. Turn left here. After 100 m comes a slight right bend and after another 600 m, you reach the highest point of the path at Biebrichskopf. The path now goes steeply downhill and after about 700 m, you arrive at an intersection in a hollow. Turn left here (main path to Köppel). After 2 km, you meet the Mittelwaldweg again (to the left diagonally you can see the water reservoir). Turn right here and go back 600 m to the paved road. Turn left there and after 750 m you meet the L327 again. Cross diagonally right onto the forest path and immediately turn right to ascend the gentle slope until you reach a shelter. Pass this on the right and follow the fitness trail. At the end of this path, keep left and return to the starting point.
