Description

The tour is about 34 kilometers long, I start in the center of Bad Marienberg. For this place I should take some time, either before or after the tour. So there is a game park and a climbing forest on the outskirts of town, in the city the Park of the Senses and the spa park with apothecary garden and barefoot path. In addition, the town offers a basalt park that can be visited. The tour leads me through the valley of the Black Nister to Hahn and Dreisbach. Over fields and through woods it goes on to the Wiesensee. I reach Stahlhofen am Wiesensee with its listed old school. Now the path leads me sometimes closer, sometimes farther around the lake to Pottum. From here I cycle on a big loop via Hellenhahn-Schellenberg (you can see among other things half-timbered houses), Fehl-Ritzhausen and Großseifen (old schoolhouse) back to Bad Marienberg.

Brief description

This attractive round trip leads me from Bad Marienberg through several fauna-flora habitats and animal sanctuaries and thus through a beautiful nature. Among other things, I circumnavigate the large Wiesensee.

Directions

I start in Bad Marienberg at the intersection of Weberstraße/Wilhelmstraße and head southwest along Bismarckstraße, later Bahnhofstraße. I approach the valley of the Schwarze Nister. A sharp bend to the left and it continues on field paths parallel to the L 293, which I cross and reach after some zigzags Langenbach. After a total of about five kilometers there is a larger slope, the rest of the way is well passable, especially with pedelecs. For the rest, most of the trail is on forest roads. I take a map with me, because the signposting requires some attention in places. In a large arc I reach the Wiesensee. Here there are cafes and inns, I can also swim to my heart's content. On the bike I have to pay attention to the many walkers who are also on the road here. In Pottum, I take a sharp right at the end of the Seestraße and ride in a wide loop back north to Bad Marienberg.

Safety instructions

Good basic condition required.

Equipment

For bags and backpacks not only the back offers space on a bike tour - the weight of the equipment should be best distributed over several parts of the body and wheel. Driving wind, rain or sun can lead to very different temperature sensations on the bike - a cold can best be avoided with a professional bike clothing. You should always have a suitable change of clothes on hand on a multi-day tour to be prepared for any eventuality. Among other important equipment, the necessary tools and repair utensils should not be forgotten. At high speed, it is easy to take a wrong turn on a bicycle tour: For orientation, traditional and modern aids such as a bike map or a GPS device. You should always have a small emergency kit with you.

Tips

In the towns along the way, I can stop at various inns. Otherwise, I take bathing suits with me to refresh myself in the Wiesensee.
