Notice
In the tour planner we inform you under the tab "Current info" about temporary route changes, closures and detours.
Where is the end of the world? We set out to explore it in the Kroppacher Schweiz and look forward to a spectacular route that demands surefootedness and fitness even from experienced hikers. First, we follow the Weltende trail over colorful meadows along the Nister, until we cross the stream on a narrow bridge. But soon the adventure begins as the path leads us up a steep slope and becomes narrower. Glad to have chosen sturdy hiking boots, we place one foot in front of the other on the path partly cut into the rock. The wire ropes installed in the rock are very helpful for the alpine sections of the route. After the ascent, we are rewarded with a magnificent view over the Nister valley. We gladly take a seat on the benches and enjoy the impressive panorama during a break. After the rest, we happily head back and pass through the villages of Flögert and Altenburg.
From Hachenburg (southeast): Drive on the B414 towards Altenkirchen, follow it past Kroppach, where you turn left onto L290 (Wissener Straße). Leave this road after Giesenhausen to the right onto K16, follow it to Stein-Wingert to the cemetery parking lot.
From Altenkirchen (southwest): Drive on the B256, leave it at Eichelhardt to the right onto L290. Follow this road past Giesenhausen and then turn left onto K16 after Giesenhausen. Follow this road until you reach the cemetery parking lot in Stein-Wingert.
From Wissen (north): Drive on the L289 until you turn left onto K16 (Nisterstraße) in Burbach. Follow this road until you arrive at the cemetery parking lot in Stein-Wingert.

We begin our hike at the cemetery parking lot in Stein-Wingert. First, we follow the hiking trail across colorful meadows, always with the sound of the Nister in our ears. Shortly after, we cross the Nister on a narrow bridge. Soon the alpine part of the route begins and the path becomes steeper and narrower. After completing the ascent, we have a magnificent view into the Nister valley, which we then descend again. Delighted by the beautiful view, we follow the signs back to the starting point. Along the way, we pass through the villages of Flögert and Altenburg.
Wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate, functional clothing that protects you from cold and wet or heat and sun.
Bring enough fluids. There are not always catering facilities available.
Please wear suitable hiking boots that provide sufficient grip on slippery, steep, rocky, and uneven paths.
If you find certain sections of the path impassable, you should avoid them. Especially in bad weather, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections.
In autumn, be aware that fallen leaves can conceal uneven ground, roots, stones, or holes. Expect such obstacles when hiking.
Although the path is very well marked, for safety reasons always carry a suitable hiking map.
Sturdy footwear is absolutely required here!Bringing sufficient drinks and possibly food is recommended.
After the Weltende nature trail, make a detour to the viewpoint "Spitze Ley" to enjoy a magnificent view of the Weltende.
