Those with children are well advised to take this walk through the hills around Werkhausen. I fully enjoy the "Path of the Senses": At the start, I climb some elevation to then delight in the wonderful view of the typical Westerwald landscape. Afterwards, meadow paths and field trails await me just as much as diverse sensory stations along the way. For example, I practice balancing on a beam, try out a play of colors, put my hand into touch boxes, and am allowed to taste offerings from various beds. The barefoot path is also great fun as it tickles my soles. All my senses such as smelling, tasting, seeing, feeling, and hearing are engaged. Besides this, nature naturally comes into focus since there are always wide views of the surroundings along the way.

At the start at the village meeting point in Werkhausen, I take a look at the information board because I have to be careful to choose the right route. There are two "Path of the Senses" routes, and my route mostly follows the project of the same name by the local municipality of Werkhausen, but already at the beginning follows a slightly different path.
I walk counterclockwise once around the village and repeatedly try out sensory stations like the sound fence or the babbling brook. First, I walk a few meters to the main road and follow it about 100 meters until it meets Fichtenstraße. There I turn left and walk a few meters on the street. Before the first houses, I turn right onto a meadow path slightly hidden between hedges and trees. At the top, I turn left on the meadow path and soon reach the paved road again. I follow this lightly uphill past many different sensory stations. Along the way, benches invite you to take a relaxing break or have a small picnic. At the highest point, I immediately turn left and walk downhill again on a field path. Upon reaching the bottom, I see the village community center a short distance to the left, but I turn right and then directly left again and briefly follow the main street towards the village of Werkhausen. Behind the first houses, the path branches left again and takes me over a meadow with further sensory stations back to my starting point.
No special equipment is required.
