Description

From the station, the path goes past the village pond, over the Erbach and left along a small path at the edge of the forest. Citizens have created a gnome path here with children, so I keep encountering small funny figures wishing me a good time.
Then the path leads me above the railway tracks until the tracks disappear into a tunnel. Further uphill, I meet the WesterwaldSteig, which now accompanies me into the Busenhausen forest. Shortly after crossing the road that leads to Hilgenroth, the path splits and I wander into the forest area, the source area of the Erbach. Nature at its finest and wonderful silence accompany me to the paved high trail. Here I have an unobstructed view towards Altenkirchen and enjoy the sunny route back to Obererbach.
Past the small fishing pond, I reach the street "In der Hoppbach," where in house number 3 the private village museum of Herbert Hausmann is hidden.

Approach

By car, I reach the place via the B 256. Here, at the end of Mammelzen, the K 38 leads to Obererbach to the signposted train station.

Public transport

The hiking trail has a direct train connection. The Westerwald-Sieg Railway (RB 90) connects the connections: Siegen - Au/Sieg - Altenkirchen - Hachenburg - Limburg.
Also from Cologne/Bonn, there is a quick connection in Au/Sieg and from there it takes 15 minutes to reach Obererbach station.

Parking

Near the station, Hauptstr. 72 in 57612 Obererbach, there are free parking spaces

Directions

From the train station, I walk a few meters north and cross the railway tracks. Behind the pond, there is a small wooden bridge and here I already find the first signs of the gnome path. Past the old tunnel entrance and the small cemetery, the path goes up into the forest area where we meet the WesterwaldSteig. Unfortunately, the bark beetle has caused great damage here and many coniferous forest areas had to be felled. At the end of this forest area, I have a wonderful view of Hilgenroth. Right next to it is the hiking hut, where a first rest is possible.
Between meadow and forest, the path continues to the K 37. Small steps make it easier for me to climb the opposite road embankment. Now I wander through the forest area of Busenhausen. Here is an important source area of the Erbach and small trenches and streams run through the partly damp forest stand.
Then another great view awaits me from the paved high trail towards Bachenberg and Obererbach. Only at the turnoff to the fishing pond do I leave the paved road and continue on natural paths back towards Obererbach.

The district road 37 is crossed twice, please be careful here.
