Description

Opposite the charging stations for electric vehicles, there is a large overview board describing the three ore routes and showing them on a map.

Erzweg 1 starts behind the overview board and first leads into the forest past the Pingen fields and the Pulverhäuschen. On the way into the Gierender Tal valley, the entrance to the Kohlseifenstollen tunnel is on the right. The path runs along a former coal pile on the left. Following the Gierender Bach stream, it leads to the Hümmericher Mühle mill, the lowest point of Erzweweg 1.

The trail now climbs uphill to a detour to the entrance of the Alexanderstollen and continues through the meadows of the valley along the Dürrenbach stream to Oberhonnefeld. Through Oberhonnefeld, past the church, through fields and meadows, then around the wetland biotope before reaching Oberhonnefeld again and walking through it. Once again downhill through Gierend, then across meadows back to Westerwaldpark, the starting point of the hike.
