On our WiedHeights route, the landscape entices us with its variety – lush meadows alternate with beautiful mixed forests. One climb follows another. The ascents are rarely very long and always reward us with an impressive panorama. Many lovely picnic spots invite you to rest.
Along the bustling Wied, we cycle from Waldbreitbach up to the Breitscheider Heights. A detour to Roßbacher Häubchen is highly recommended here, with its vertical and horizontal basalt columns and the magnificent view into the Wied valley and from the summit even to the Eifel and the Siebengebirge. Over Hümmerich, it goes to our highest point at 389 m near Gierend. In Bonefeld we start the descent; before Rengsdorf, there's another inviting up-and-down section before we cycle back down into the Wied valley. The idyllic Laubach waterfall can be reached via a small side path. Back in the pretty village of Waldbreitbach, we can reward ourselves with a refreshment in one of the good cafés and restaurants.

A detour to Roßbacher Häubchen is always worthwhile: the worn-down volcanic cone entices us with fantastic views over the Wied valley and from the summit even as far as the Eifel and the Siebengebirge!
