WesterwaldSteig adventure loop "Wiedblick Tour"

Approach

Coming from Neuwied, follow the L255 to Waldbreitbach Mitte. Turn left onto Marktstrasse. After approx. 100 m you will reach the large parking lot.

Directions

From the parking lot, follow the WesterwaldSteig access road straight ahead to Wied and then walk 300 m to the right. Here it goes left over the bridge and directly left again. After 100 m go right and after 50 m (information board) turn left into the forest. You are now on the WesterwaldSteig trail, which you follow to Hausen through the St. Josefshaus, the founding house of the Franciscan brothers and further uphill towards Malberg. At the junction N5

Follow this to Hausen through the St. Josefshaus, the founding house of the Franciscan Brothers and continue uphill towards Malberg. At the junction N5 / W3 you leave the WesterwaldSteig and follow the N5 (or H1) straight ahead towards Niederbreitbach. (Alternatively, you can follow the WesterwaldSteig up to the right for another 2 km and reach the top of the Malberg, where basalt was mined until 1932, with the Malberg Hut, which is managed). On the N5 into the valley you pass the Neuerburg campsite with a restaurant and beer garden. Here the N5 turns into the Wiedweg. You cross the Wiedbrücke on the left and at the end of Niederbreitbach go right up towards the cemetery and past the Nikolauskapelle up the Clausberg. Following the Wiedweg, which also runs along the Klosterweg, you come to the Klosterberg with the mother house of the Franciscan Sisters, whose founder was Mother M. Rosa. Here you turn right into the forest and you continue on the monastery path to the Church of the Assumption of Mary with its unique natural root crib. The monastery path ends here. On the W2 in the direction of the town center, past a café and the tourist information office, you will get back to the starting point (Marktstrasse car park). In the town center you will find a diverse selection of cafes and restaurants.

Each section of the path is marked as a hiking path with at least one independent marker. It is expressly pointed out that this adventure loop does not have a consistently independent marker. Thus, orientation security in the area and basic knowledge of map studies are required.
