Description

From Grenzau, the route first leads over a first hill to Nauort and via a serpentine descent into the picturesque Sayn valley. Caution is advised on the descent from Stromberg to Isenburg. (The upper part of the route is newly asphalted, but in the lower section there are some potholes.)

Now it goes through a low-traffic and idyllic valley along the Iserbach towards Thalhauser Mill. The route loops back slightly into the Sayn valley and from there via Selters to the first lake of our "Lake Round", the "Klingelwiese". A long straight allows easy rolling to Maxsain and over a short steep climb first to the village of Hartenfels, followed by another short steep climb to the village of Steinen. Here a signpost points to our stage destination: the "Westerwald Lake District". At the Dreifelder Weiher, there is now a great view of nature, water in all directions, and the possibility for a short rest. Past the Cadillac Museum, the route continues shortly afterwards towards Rothenhain (Old Castle Rothenhain), where the flowing/harmonic middle section of the route begins. This leads cyclists over little-trafficked secondary roads to Siershahn. During this middle section, however, the short, steep climb near Düringen demands stamina and climbing ability. Naturally, this is rewarded - with a descent to Freilingen, from where a great, newly asphalted road section can be ridden. From Siershahn, we seek the way back to Kannenbäckerland, where small hills must be overcome again and again. However, if the last short climb before Ransbach-Baumbach is mastered, one may already smell the beer from the Fohr brewery, through which one virtually rides "right through" and then, on a consistently slightly downhill route, can drift back to Grenzau.

Approach
