Wasserschloss Neuroth

Detailed description

An architectural gem is the water castle Neuroth with the adjacent courtyard located in a depression between the municipalities of Bilkheim and Salz.
The building in baroque style dates from the 19th century in its current form, although the castle was originally built in 1664.
It is in good condition, and the moat is still intact. Originally, the castle was planned in a U-shape. However, due to the death of Count Johann Philipp von Walderdorff in 1768, it remained an L-shaped torso.

Brief description

The moated castle Neuroth is located between the local communities of Bilkheim and Salz. It is the only moated castle in the Upper Westerwald. Worth seeing is the four-story tower of the building, which is not open to visitors.
