Directions

The hike starts from the parking lot at Holzbachschlucht with a real highlight: The path leads directly into the wild romantic Holzbachschlucht. Between moss-covered rocks, ancient trees, and the clear stream, the trail winds through the narrow, natural gorge – especially pleasant and cool in summer.

At the end of the gorge, you continue hiking through bright woodland areas towards Hohe Hahnscheid and then on to Hessenblick, a viewpoint with impressive panoramic views. A short break is worthwhile here – the bench along the path invites you to linger and enjoy.

Afterwards, the trail returns comfortably along forest paths and small trails towards the starting point. The last kilometers lead again through quiet forest passages before you finally reach the parking lot at Holzbachschlucht.

Safety instructions

If you feel certain sections of the path are impassable for you, you should avoid them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural trails can have muddy and slippery sections.

In autumn, particular care should be taken as fallen leaves on the ground can hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. You should expect these kinds of path obstructions when hiking.

Although the path is consistently well marked, for safety reasons you should always carry a suitable hiking map or download the free app "Rheinland-Pfalz erleben".

Equipment

Wear sturdy footwear as well as weather-appropriate, functional clothing that protects against cold and wet or heat and sun.

Take enough fluids with you. Refreshment options are not available everywhere.

Please wear hiking shoes appropriate for the path that also provide sufficient grip on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven trails.

Tips

Don't forget provisions! At Hessenblick there is a rustic table and benches inviting you to picnic with a great view
