After the railway line was closed, the cycle and hiking path was built by the municipal associations Wallmerod and Westerburg from 1985 and opened at the end of the 1980s. The towns of Westerburg and Wallmerod were thus connected.
The route leads from Westerburg via Sainscheid, Kölbingen, Härtlingen, Mähen, Herschbach/Oww. to Wallmerod and covers a distance of about 12 kilometers. The path has only slight gradients and is therefore very suitable for family routes with children. Due to the fine asphalt, the cycle and hiking path is also a popular destination for inline skaters.
There are several opportunities along the path to take a short break. The cycle and hiking path is signposted according to the criteria of the Rhineland-Palatinate cycle path guidelines and is part of the Rhineland-Palatinate cycle route.

The P+R car park at Westerburg station is free of charge and has about 30 parking spaces
The entry to the Wäller ALLEnweg is located directly opposite the P+R car park at Westerburg station. Just behind the bridge, the first snack island invites you to linger. Then it goes on through the weekend house area to Sainscheid. There is the possibility to use a toilet there. The path then runs along the towns of Kölbingen, Kaden, Härtlingen, Mähen, Herschbach to Wallmerod station.
