The stone nature trail in Neustadt (Wied), also known as the "Geopark stone garden in Wiedpark", offers a variety of rock samples of different types of rock (e.g. granite, basalt, sandstone) along a short circular route - including interesting information boards about their formation, age and origin. It is a compact, informative walk through the geological diversity of the region.
You can park your car in the free parking spaces in the center of Neustadt.
Take the bus line 564 hourly to Neustadt (Wied) to Margerita Platz and start from there.
The free parking lot is located next to the Neustadt (Wied) municipal office and next to Misto's. (Raiffeisenstraße 9, 53577 Neustadt)
The stone nature trail in Neustadt (Wied) starts directly at the Wiedparkhalle. From there, the path leads to the right and runs as a circular route through the Wiedpark. Along the path, there are numerous rock blocks with informative plaques that provide fascinating insights into the history of the earth. You will also come across various "Trees of the Year" on the circular trail, which are also explained with information on the respective tree species. All in all, it is an easy, educational walk for the whole family.
The asphalt is broken up and uneven in several places due to tree roots. There is an increased risk of tripping and slipping.
The Misto's restaurant in the immediate vicinity invites you to take a break.
