Salzburger Kopf

Detailed description

Here you enter a historically significant area where things weren't always as peaceful as they are today. The Salzburger Kopf consists of the two elevations Galgenberg (645 m) and Saalberg (653 m). From here, you have a beautiful distant view, and on clear days, not only can you see the Westerwald elevations further south, but even the Feldberg in the Taunus. During the Thirty Years' War, trials were held here for the rule over the Westerwald, which included the parishes of Neukirch, Emmerichenhain, and Marienberg. On the nearby Galgenberg, death sentences were carried out. A sign points to the former place of execution.

The Salzburger Kopf Ski Area

For skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, and snow tubing. Lift and floodlights

The ski area at the Salzburger Kopf ski slope is an ideal excursion destination for families with children for skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing. The ski slope operated by the ski club WSV Salzburger Kopf offers the highest ski descent in the Westerwald and the first snow tubing facility in Rhineland-Palatinate. The wide slope with its even gradient is particularly well-suited for children and beginners who want to practice skiing in a relaxed manner. The ski club also offers ski courses. However, the greatest fun is the snow tubing facility at Salzburger Kopf: Those who dare can speed down the slope quite rapidly in the thick air-filled tires.
