Over the rise of the Galgenberg, you reach a junction where the right branch, running a short distance parallel to the district road, leads to the small street village of Faulbach. Immediately after the village entrance, Hofstraße (first street on the left) leads through the old part of the village, where a farmer settlement core listed as a historical monument has been preserved to this day. A special sight is the beautiful and well-maintained appearance of the 'Faulbacher Hof' (Hofstraße No. 5). This fief and leasehold farm, documented since the Middle Ages, shows a generously grouped three-sided complex with a plastered half-timbered building as the manor house. Small details can also be discovered here: the work bell tower on the hipped roof and the still original iron gates between square-reinforced posts. The village of Faulbach lies on a watercourse of the same name, which can now barely be recognized as a small trickle and which is now crossed. Passing pastures and fields, one walks along a paved farm road to the Höhenfelder Hof. Then turn right to the Birkenbaumallee, at the end of which you find a large stone cross on the right in the front garden of a house (Hammelburg No. 29). It was erected by Jesuits in memory of Prince Franz Alexander, who died here in 1711. With his death, the dynasty of the Princes of Nassau-Hadamar ended. The prince's heart was buried in the Herzenberg Chapel. Crossing Hospitalstraße, you reach the Herzenberg plateau via Nonnengasse and Kreuzweg, where the parking lot is located.
Hadamar train station.
Parking lots available on the Herzenberg.
Wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate, functional clothing that protects you from cold and wet or heat and sun.
Take enough fluids with you. There are not rest stops everywhere.
Please wear hiking shoes appropriate for the trail, which provide sufficient support even on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths.
If you think certain sections of the trail are impassable for you, you should avoid them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths may have muddy and slippery sections.
Be particularly aware in autumn that fallen leaves on the ground can hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. You must expect such trail impairments when hiking.
Although the trail is very well marked throughout, you should always carry a suitable hiking map for safety reasons.
Also visit the rose garden, ornamental garden, and the Herzenberg Chapel on the Herzenberg. From there you have a wonderful view of Hadamar extending into the Lahn Valley.
