Hiking Trail
Route profile
Notice
In the tour planner we inform you under the tab "Current info" about temporary route changes, closures and detours.
RWW 3 first follows RWW 2 to Malmeneich but turns off before the village and then goes a short distance in the opposite direction. After some meters along the main road towards Elz, it turns right behind the village exit onto a paved forest road through a splendid high forest and along the Hasslerbach. Off the RWW 3 route, there is an opportunity for a detour to the "Mordschau" about 1 km away. When the plundering Swedish soldiers marched in, the people of Elz are said to have fled to this place with their belongings during the Thirty Years' War to seek safety. Even today, on every Good Friday, the people of Elz still make a pilgrimage to the Mordschaukreuz. The hiking trail finally passes the Elz sports airfield, where motor and glider airplanes take off and land. You then carefully cross the B8 and walk down Friedhofsweg along a recently created flower strip with young orchard trees to Niederhadamar. Along the way, you can enjoy views over the wide fields of the Hadamar region. Those who still have some time and strength can make a loop here and about 100 m before the cemetery turn right onto a field path. If you follow the path a few meters, you have a beautiful view over Hadamar and towards Elz/Limburg. Back on the hiking trail, it goes left at the cemetery back to the starting point.
Hadamar train station.
Parking is available at the outdoor pool in Hexenschluchtweg.
The circular route leads along paved forest roads through a high forest. A short section of the route crosses the B8.
Wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate, functional clothing that protects you from cold and wetness or heat and sun.
Take enough fluids with you. There are not always places to stop for food and drink.
Please wear hiking shoes suitable for the path, which also give you enough support on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths.
If you think certain sections of the path are not passable for you, you should avoid them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural trails can have muddy and slippery passages.
Especially in autumn, you should also be aware that fallen leaves on the ground can conceal unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. You must expect path obstructions of this kind when you go on a hike.
Although the path is very well marked throughout, for safety reasons you should always carry a suitable hiking map with you.
Take a short detour to the "Mordschaukreuz" located about 1 km away.
