Description

The RWW No. 2 starts with the signage of RWW No. 1 up to the junction at the barbecue hut. From there, follow RWW No. 2. At the bend you reach the water house. This spring area was already mentioned in 1690 as “Holzburnfloss”. Back then, the water was led through bored spruce logs to the running fountains, from which people obtained drinking water. In a beautiful south-facing location, our path leads along a forest edge enlivened with hawthorn, blackthorn, and wild roses to Malmeneich and returns via the “Old Post Road”. At the forest entrance, by the thick oak, there was a toll station during the time of the Principality of Nassau-Hadamar. The wagons and stagecoaches came from Goldener Grund, crossed the Lahn, and then followed the “High Road”, today the B8 and at that time one of the most important connections between Frankfurt and Cologne. The path leads back to the starting point on quiet and shady forest paths.

Safety instructions

Wear sturdy footwear as well as weather-appropriate, practical clothing that protects you from cold and wet as well as heat and sun.

Bring enough fluids with you. There are not dining options available everywhere.

Please wear hiking boots appropriate for the trail, which provide you with sufficient grip even on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths.

If you believe that certain sections of the path are impassable for you, you should bypass them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections.

Particularly in autumn, it should also be noted that fallen leaves on the ground can conceal unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. You must expect such path impairments when undertaking a hike.

Although the path is very well marked throughout, for safety reasons you should always carry a suitable hiking map with you.
