also called Brambacher Schlösschen, is located at the exit of Weltersburg towards Guckheim.
The Reifenberger Château, also known as the Brambacher Château, is a picturesque group of buildings with scenic (half-timbered) architecture located in Weltersburg (VG Westerburg). It was predominantly built shortly after 1552 by Philipp von Reifenberg.
There is currently no secure knowledge about the exact date of origin of the so-called old castle house of the von Reifenberg family, which is first mentioned in written records in 1469. Philip von Reifenberg is considered the initiator of the "new" house built in 1552, which is identical to the Reifenberger Château.
In Weltersburg, there was until 1671 the seat of the knights of a line of the von Reifenberg family. In the early 18th century, the château passed to Heinrich David Emanuel Schuler from Wetzlar, a councilor of Leiningen-Westerburg and later chancellery director, who was elevated to nobility and took on the name "von Schuler."
The Schuler family was closely related to that of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and in 1779, the poet's father visited the house on the occasion of a nephew's baptism. In 1814, the Prussian Marshal Blücher stayed overnight at the house of the von Schulers on his way to his troops marching against Napoleon.
The estate is privately owned and not open to the public.
