Presbers-Lust Dillenburg

Detailed description

The Presber Hut – a historic place to linger

The Presber Hut is a small insider tip in Dillenburg. It is located along the historic circuit through the vineyard as well as on the Oranier Path and invites walkers to take a short break, breathe deeply, and let the special atmosphere of the place wash over them.

The hut is named after Peter Presber (1824–1909), who, as chairman of the beautification association, significantly contributed to the design and maintenance of the surroundings. Presber was also involved in the construction of the Wilhelm Tower, intensively engaged with the history of Dillenburg, and created drawings and local maps.

The hut was built in the year 1893 on the initiative of the Dillenburg tobacco manufacturer Georg Landfried. For many decades, it was a popular spot for hikers and walkers.

In April 2017, the Presber Hut was thoroughly renovated. The renovation was made possible by donations from numerous citizens of Dillenburg, who preserved a piece of local history with it.
