Description

The informative boards tell me a lot about forest and countryside, trees, animals, and make the circular route especially varied and educational. Picnic opportunities are available at the car park at Oberroder Knoten or at the clubhouse of the angling club "Früh auf."

Public transport

No direct public transport connection available.

Parking

Free hiking car park "Oberroder Knoten." Directly on the K47 between Oberrod and Mademühlen (50.604574, 8.137920)

Directions

At the start of my route, I already enjoy the distant view directly from the small rest area with a comfortable wave-shaped lounger. In front of the lovingly created insect hotel nearby, I observe the busy activity of wild bees, bumblebees, butterflies, and co. I stroll on towards the ski lift and Knoten, and after leaving the bright deciduous forest behind, the next great view awaits me, including a cozy bench – this time with a view of Oberroder's “home mountain,” the Goldberg. My path to the pond complex “Holzmännchen” of the angling club “Früh auf” Oberrod 1973 e. V. is adorned with numerous information boards that give me insights into the diverse native fauna and flora. I then leisurely walk around the eponymous wooded basalt hill Mabühl, which once served residents of the village as a quarry, back to my starting point.

Safety instructions

Although the path is very well marked throughout, for safety reasons I should always have a suitable hiking map or a smartphone with the route description with me.

Equipment

Sturdy footwear is recommended for the hike.

Tips

The clubhouse of the angling club is usually open on weekends. There is then the possibility to purchase a "cool blonde" or a lemonade and enjoy it on site.
