Oberlahr - Nordic Walking route in the Westerwald Route No. 3

Description

The start and finish point is the Bruch parking lot, directly next to the Oberlahr fire station. The parking lot is free to use. Route No. 3 leads opposite the hotel park "Der Westerwald-Treff" onto the so-called old railway embankment. This section along the Wied is marked with tips and exercises for the correct walking technique (so-called technique route). The route then leads over a 1.5 km long paved path uphill to the weekend house area "Im Jähnen". Once at the top, you look forward to the downhill section towards Oberlahr and pass the hotel park "Der Westerwald-Treff" again back to the start and finish point.

Directions

The free Bruch parking lot belongs to the "Lahrer Herrlichkeit", former Brucher mill, and is located somewhat outside the local community of Oberlahr. It is relatively large and easy to find, as it lies directly next to the Oberlahr fire station. An information board shows which routes are possible in the Nordic Walking Park. Route No. 3 is well signposted and leads along the L269 opposite the hotel park "Der Westerwald-Treff" onto the so-called old railway embankment of the former Wiedtalbahn. The first 200 m go over a private path with a small Mother of God figure. The now coming straight section leads along the Wied and is marked with tips and exercises for proper walking technique (so-called technique route). The technique route ends at a small junction. Route No. 3 then leads to the right over a 1.5 km long paved path steadily uphill to the weekend house area "Im Jähnen". Here, if you pause briefly and turn around, you have a wonderful view of Oberlahr before continuing uphill into the forest. Once at the top, a bench invites you to rest. Then it goes down again first on a wide and then narrower forest path towards Oberlahr, until the Lahrbach is crossed over a small bridge. A short section leads along the K1, past the hotel park "Der Westerwald-Treff", which invites you to stop for refreshments, back to the start and finish point.

Safety instructions

If it has rained heavily beforehand, sturdy footwear is required, as the path has been roughened in places by forestry operations.

Tips

Recommendation: A detour towards Burglahr: visit the Alvenslebenstollen, the castle, or the Heinrichshof Cheese Dairy.
