Nordic Walking Tour Montabaur - Mittelwald Route

Approach

Arrival via the A3 from Cologne or Frankfurt
• Leave the motorway at the Montabaur exit
• Turn right onto B255 towards Montabaur
• Leave the federal road at Niederelbert exit
• Turn left onto K168 Koblenzer Straße towards the center
• After approx. 500 m (just after entering town) turn left onto Albertstraße
• Immediately after turn left onto Spessartstraße to the intersection with Eifelstraße
• Turn left there and follow the road

• Leave the federal road at Niederelbert exit
• Turn left onto K168 Koblenzer Straße towards the center
• After approx. 500 m (just after entering town) turn left onto Albertstraße
• Immediately after turn left onto Spessartstraße to the intersection with Eifelstraße
• Turn left there and follow the road

Train to ICE station Montabaur and bus to Montabaur Kaserne or Horressen junction, then continue on foot or taxi to Mons-Tabor-Bad, Eifelstraße; Bus line 116; www.bahn.de

Directions

From the starting point, pass the indoor swimming pool and cross its parking lot. Where the Biebrichsbach passes under the road, turn left onto the forest path along the stream and continue following the path beside the stream. At the end of the path, go straight ahead and carefully cross the state road L327 diagonally to the right. Follow the wide paved road into the forest. After about 750 m, turn right onto the first wide paved forest path. Follow this well-developed path through the “Mittelwald” and past the Horressen water reservoir, continuing for about 2 km until the path ends. Then at the intersection (with old iron railing) turn left and take the uphill path. After about 400 m, at the next intersection, turn left again and follow this winding path for 1.4 km until you reach a well-developed cross path (main path to Köppel). Turn left here and after 500 m you will encounter the Mittelwald path again (diagonally left you can see the water reservoir). Turn right here and retrace 600 m back to the paved road. Turn left there and after 750 m you will meet the L327 again. Cross diagonally right onto the forest path and immediately turn right to climb the slight incline until you reach a shelter. Pass the shelter on the right and follow the fitness trail. At the end of this path, keep left and return to the starting point.
