Construction probably by the Benedictine nuns of Rheindorf. The chapel was formerly dedicated to St. Nicholas.
In 1393, St. Nicholas Mountain is mentioned for the first time in a purchase contract. In 1700, enlargement of the nave, erection of the tower, and furnishing of the Baroque altar.
In 1912, enlargement of the chapel. In 1961, establishment of the independent parish of St. Laurentius, Niederbreitbach.
In 1977, conversion into a cemetery chapel
