Description

The N2 circular trail entices us with a varied landscape with fantastic views and many older, often ecclesiastical buildings. We start at the campsite in Niederbreitbach and first hike into the picturesque Fockenbach valley. After paying a visit to the Mother Rose Chapel, we head up to the ruins of Neuerburg Castle (privately owned) dating back to 1170, which we can reach via a short detour. The trail continues to Verscheid, where we can stop for refreshments at the family-friendly Gasthof Paganetti's and then take a short detour to the famous "Bärenkopp viewpoint" with its magnificent views of the Wiedtal valley. We then hike via Wüscheid and Glockscheid, past the Luh chapel (open to visitors at any time) over the beautiful Clausberg with the old Nikolaus chapel (cemetery chapel since 1977). From here we return to the free parking lot at the Neuerburg campsite.
