Detailed description

Multigenerational Park Steinbuschanlage

Promoting movement close to nature and enabling encounters: The Steinbuschanlage, informally referred to by many citizens of Wissen as "the facility," is today a modern park with numerous play and sports equipment for young and old. Long ago, the park was once the cemetery of the town. The name commemorates Pastor Anton Joseph Steinbusch (1829-1883), who did much good for the town of Wissen and its residents. His honorary grave is still located in the center of the park. The Steinbuschanlage has always been a place for recreation, meetings, and lingering, but also a place for remembrance. There is a war memorial commemorating the years 1870-1871 (Franco-Prussian War) and the years 1914-1918 (First World War). The monuments recall the fallen of the wars, including the soldiers from the homeland. Noteworthy is the steel sculpture "Unheilvolle Kriege und beginnende Freundschaft" by the artist Arnold Morkramer. The current use as a multigenerational park does not detract from the dignity of the site. History and future have been skillfully integrated in planning, sparking visitors' interest in the history of the Steinbuschanlage. After the redesign with a high degree of citizen participation, the park now offers various play and sports opportunities, an e-bike charging station, and a restroom.
