The circular route is named after the 350 m high Roßbacher Häubchen. It is an eroded volcanic cone with exciting basalt walls and a small basalt nature trail explaining basalt mining from 1883 to 1942. At the church in the village center, you pass a playground. Opposite is the excursion inn and restaurant "Zum Dorfkrug" with German, Italian, and Indian specialties. The sun terrace is particularly recommended.

From Roßbach/Wied or A3 exit Fernthal via L 256

Free parking at the village entrance, coming from Roßbach, in Roßbacher Straße
We start at the edge of Breitscheid - L256 towards Roßbach, corner Waldstraße (small, free hiking parking lot). Here we follow the street "Sauerwiese" until the hiking trail turns left onto a footpath. Along forest edges, over meadows and fields, we follow the signs to the junction to Roßbacher Häubchen, a 350 m high, eroded volcanic cone. An approximately 200 m long access path leads us from there to the viewing plateau. For experienced hikers, the climb from the viewing plateau up to the summit is highly recommended (a steel cable in the rock provides more surefootedness). From the panoramic panel there, we have a wonderful view of the Wied Valley and, in good weather, as far as the Eifel and the Siebengebirge. We go back to the junction, turn left, and hike through a small forest and further over field and meadow paths to the village fountain. Here we walk a bit along "Brunnenstraße", then right along Kirchstraße, past the Anna Chapel with an altar piece from 1480. There is also a small playground here. Slightly below the chapel on the main street is the restaurant "Zum Dorfkrug" with German, Italian, and Indian cuisine. Coming from the restaurant, the main street (Roßbacher Straße) makes a right turn after the chapel. Shortly afterwards, we turn right into "Neue Straße" and follow the signs back to the starting point of our hike.
Ascent to the summit only for surefooted hikers.
Sturdy footwear is recommended.
From the viewing plateau on the summit, there is a wonderful view of the spring-like Wied Valley, and in good visibility even as far as the Siebengebirge and the Eifel.
