Kaolin pit ‘Böhmsfund’

Detailed description

The abandoned kaolin mine Böhmsfund is now an extraordinary place for learning and experiences for nature and geology enthusiasts. For many decades, the bright claystone kaolin was extracted here, which is used for porcelain and ceramics. The landscape with its light soils and open spaces appears almost alien and makes the place particularly attractive. A visit combines natural experiences and regional history in a vivid way.
