Description

Wiedtal meets Rhine heights: Sometimes we cycle along the lovely Wied and its surrounding small villages, sometimes we are challenged by crisp climbs on the Rhine heights, where we are rewarded with fantastic views. Shortly after the start in Waldbreitbach, a small side path before the bridge leads us to the Chapel of the Holy Cross, built in 1694, where the founder of the Franciscan nuns and later the founders of the Franciscan Order of the Brothers of the Holy Cross lived. On the opposite bank of the Wied, we are below St. Joseph's House. The convent church was built in 1906 in the Rhenish neo-Gothic style. A highlight of the tour is certainly the ascent to the 373 m high Malberg. Here we should definitely make the detour to the view of the Malbergsee lake. In good weather, we can even see as far as Cologne! The sun terrace of the Malberg Hütte invites us to enjoy a meal: with a panoramic view of 3 monasteries.

What else can we think of but the phrase: Holy Gravel? A good 42 km with 705 m of pure riding and adventure fun!
