Description

Sometimes we ride along the lovely Wied and its surrounding small villages, sometimes challenging climbs on the Rhine heights reward us with wonderful panoramic views. Shortly after the start in Waldbreitbach, a small side path before the bridge leads us to the Cross Chapel built in 1694, where the foundress of the Franciscan Sisters and later the founders of the Franciscan Order of the Brothers of the Holy Cross lived. On the opposite bank of the Wied, we are below the St. Joseph House. The monastery church was built in 1906 in the Rhineland style of Neo-Gothic architecture. A highlight of the route is definitely the ascent to the 373 m high Malberg. Here we should definitely make a detour to the viewpoint at Malberg Lake. In good weather, we can even see as far as Cologne! For a delightful meal, the sun terrace of the Malberg Hut invites us: with a panorama of three monasteries.

What else comes to mind than the saying: Holy Gravel? 27.5 km with 657 m of riding and pure adventure fun!
