The very scenic bike route takes me past the private cider mill Junge in Altenkirchen to the Wällerhof Augst in Helmenzen. From here it goes over the Öfer Bach to Hemmelzen into the Birnbachtal with its wonderful downhill ride towards Neitersen. Behind Obernau, I turn left into the Wiedtal. Next to the Wiedtalhöfe, I also come across the farm shop "Rübengarten" in the district of Strickhausen and the former Bannmühle at the exit of the village. Behind Berzhausen, I cross the Wied once again and reach the heights of the Lippersberg past meadows, pastures, and fields. Here, as in many places, the bark beetle has raged, but in a few years, nature will also heal the wounds here. At a meadow area, my path changes direction towards Neitersen and I pass through an impressive hollow path down to the village, where the MaGoer oil mill is located in the residential house with village smithy built in 1860. Now it continues without major climbs through the near-natural Wiedtal back to Altenkirchen.

The road section between Obernau and Strickhausen is very idyllic but difficult for cars to see. Therefore, do not ride side by side in this area and keep to the right.
The route is not signposted, so please do not forget a printed map or GPS data.
In Helmenzen and Strickhausen, there are small agricultural self-service sales stations where I can also take delicious local products home with me.
