Description

The path starts at the Westerwald Ceramics Museum (open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.). After a few hundred meters along the road, the path leads on a wide forest trail towards the Meisenhof forest inn. The return goes past the Albrechtshof.

Back at the Ceramics Museum, a visit is worthwhile (www.keramikmuseum.de). You can park for free directly at the museum and relax from the hike in the on-site cafeteria "Museum Creativ".

Approach

Via the A 48 (exit Höhr-Grenzhausen). Keep right at the roundabout and after 300 m the parking lot is on the left side.

Public transport

By bus lines 437, 462, 465, or 485 (www.fri-bus.de)

Parking

There are sufficient free parking spaces available in front of and behind the Westerwald Ceramics Museum.

Directions

From the parking lot of the Ceramics Museum, we first walk left along the state road. Under the motorway bridge, a small staircase goes up on the left, and the path continues straight for a few hundred meters, then you cross the state road (there isn't much traffic, but still be careful!). There is also a hiking parking lot here if you want to shorten the route. Then it goes three/four kilometers on a wide forest road towards the Meisenhof forest inn, which invites you to stay.

The forest road is also marked as the Limes hiking trail, which runs from Bendorf via Höhr-Grenzhausen to Hillscheid. Shortly before Meisenhof, you switch to the Rheinsteig, and behind Meisenhof you turn left onto the Rheinhöhenweg towards Albrechsthof. You are on a circular route for families (CHILD). You follow this signage and automatically return to the forest road at the beginning. You turn right and more or less go back the same way to the Ceramics Museum.

Safety instructions

Wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate, practical clothing that protects you from cold and wet conditions or heat and sun. Please wear suitable hiking shoes on the route, which provide sufficient grip even on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths. Take enough fluids with you as there are not dining options everywhere. Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves can cover unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. You must expect path impairments of this kind when hiking. Although the path is very well marked throughout, you should always carry a suitable hiking map for safety reasons.

Equipment

This is a route with a moderate level of difficulty, which can be easily walked with sturdy footwear.

Tips

Be sure to plan a visit to the Westerwald Ceramics Museum. Allocate about an hour for this.
