Wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate, functional clothing that protects you from cold and wet or heat and sun.
Take enough fluids with you. There are not always opportunities to stop for refreshments.
Please wear appropriate hiking boots that provide sufficient support even on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths.
If you think certain sections of the trail are impassable, you should bypass them. Especially in bad weather, natural paths can become muddy and slippery in places.
Especially in autumn, be mindful that fallen leaves can hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. Expect these kinds of trail impairments on your hike.
Although the path is very well marked throughout, you should always carry a suitable hiking map for safety reasons.
You should pack provisions (food and drink) for your hike, as there are only dining options in Hachenburg.
For a visit to the Westerwald Landscape Museum, we should take time to learn about the former life of the Westerwald people.
