Guided tour of the Basalt Park

Description

An interesting insight into basalt mining in earlier times. The Basaltpark is a recultivated quarry with an idyllic basalt lake.
A circular path with information boards informs about the history of basalt mining in Bad Marienberg. The open-air museum provides interesting insights into the volcanic activity of the region about 25 million years ago. Here, one can still recognize the different types and crystallization forms of basalt.

Meeting point: at the information building in Basaltpark, Bismarckstraße 66

Cost for the guided tour:
5.00 € per person, free for guest card holders and children. 

Entry to Basaltpark is free.
