Description

Opening on June 12, 2022

This circular route for children from toddlers to primary school age takes you right through nature. You experience the story of the picture book "The Blue Machine." One day, it stands in the forest and puzzles the animals. In a beautiful forest area, you meet the characters from the book and learn about, for example, rabbit, deer, fox, and hedgehog. At the same time, you explore together with the animals what the Blue Machine is all about. Along the way, a few interactive offers invite you to play, guess, and move. At the end of the route, you will solve the mystery of the Blue Machine.

For older kids, there is the children's path rally. Download the questionnaire here and solve puzzles during the route: https://www.greifenstein.de/freizeit-tourismus-kultur/wandern/item/greifensteiner-kinderpfad.html Great also for groups and children's birthdays!

Directions

At the lower parking lot of the Outdoor Zentrum Lahntal, you will find the entrance sign to the children's path with the beginning of the story of the Blue Machine. To get to the bottom of the matter, you now follow the signs. They lead you under an underpass into the forest. The first forest animal waiting for you at a fork in the path is the deer, who, along with some information about itself, also has another part of the story ready. Past the deer, you enter the forest, where you quickly turn right again. More forest animals await you in the beautiful bright mixed forest and bring the story closer to you. Initially uphill, the path levels off after a right curve, and you look down over the treetops. You continue to follow the path and the animal guides until it turns right, leading you to a small hut and a seating area. Here you can take a break. Two play stations invite you to some exercise. After you’ve tried them, the path continues along fields and meadows. There you can solve the puzzles on the large boards and continue walking until you reach the hidden path. Here too, animals await you who tell more of the story—until you have solved the mystery of the Blue Machine. The small footpath ends at the Ulmtal bike path, which you can follow back to the turnoff to the parking lot. However, it’s best to stop with your family at the Outdoor Zentrum Lahntal. There, in the great beer garden in the middle of the forest, you will also find real animals and a playground.

The GREIFENSTEINER CHILDREN'S PATH mostly runs on forest and meadow paths, which can be managed with an all-terrain stroller. Only the "hidden path" at the end of the route is narrow and has roots. You can walk the route with a stroller to the station at the path, turn back, and comfortably continue on the bike path to the next station.

Safety instructions

"Children's path" does not mean you don't have to be careful here. Tripping hazards such as roots and stones, slopes, and cliffs are present because we are right in nature.

The children's path crosses the Ulmtal bike path twice—the last section runs entirely on the bike path, which also serves as a pedestrian connection. "Consideration makes paths wide" is our motto here. We even painted it on the asphalt. Everyone can learn that you can easily pass each other if you are considerate of others.

Equipment

Sturdy footwear, all-terrain stroller.
