Burgwege 1 - 3 lead you on the most beautiful paths around the Reichenstein castle ruins in Puderbach. Various activities are offered along the edges of the paths, waiting for your discovery.
All three Burgwege pass this castle dating back to the 14th century. Tours can be booked at the Tourist Information in Puderbach (02684-858160). On your hike, visit one of the recurring events in the Puderbacher Land. Whether castle festival, concert in the shadow of the castle, or for example, the Steimeler Potato Market—these attractions lie directly on the Burgweg. Other highlights along the Burgwege are the art exhibition in the premises of the Bruchhäuser Foundation in Steimel, the nature experience trail and the football golf facility in Daufenbach (BW 2), the pond system in Linkenbach, as well as parts of the Grenzbachtal (BW 3).
The Verbandsgemeinde Puderbach is located in the northeast of the Neuwied district, right in the heart of the Westerwald in Rhineland-Palatinate. Via the A3, the ICE train stations Montabaur and Siegburg/Bonn can also be reached in a short time.
You reach the Puderbacher Land if you use exit 36 - Neuwied on the A3 highway and follow the signs for "Puderbach."

We recommend Puderbach as the starting point since all three paths meet here. Our route descriptions always start from the parking lot at the Schulbrücke on Barentoner Straße in Puderbach. Since the routes are marked in opposite directions, the path can, of course, also be walked the other way around.

Burgweg 2 in the Puderbacher Land
From the starting point, the three Burgwege (1+2+3) still run together. The Burgweg leads uphill from here towards Steimel. Upon arrival in Steimel, the path runs past the "Haus Neitzert," where artworks by Karl Bruchhäuser can be viewed (www.bruchhaeser-stiftung.de). It continues over the marketplace, where the regionally known Steimeler Potato Market takes place in autumn. From there, it goes further through the forest towards Reichenstein. The path runs directly past the Reichenstein castle ruins. The ruins can be visited by prior arrangement (www.burgruine-reichenstein.de). Burgwege 2+3 lead uphill in Reichenstein towards the district road between Dürrholz and Döttesfeld. After crossing the district road, the trail goes down into the idyllic Werlenbachtal. Here the two paths split. Burgweg 2 now leads through the Werlenbachtal to the Dürrholz nature experience trail. Part of the Burgweg runs over the trail's area. A separate visit to the nature trail is recommended. Afterward, it partly passes through the village of Daufenbach to soon enjoy panoramic views up to the Siebengebirge along the path running past the forest edge. It continues over great forest paths back to the starting point in Puderbach. Burgweg 2 has a length of approximately 16.5 km.
Hiking boots and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.
The castle ruins in Reichenstein can be visited by arrangement.
