There are many indications that the Bornkasten was an early settlement area. In the slope of the northern Bornkasten (320 m) there are the remains of a ring wall, which could date back to the early Iron Age (state of research: 1989) or to the time of the Celtic Hunsrück-Eifel culture (VG-Chronicle, 1997).
