Description

The route passes by numerous beautiful spots. The starting point is at the foot of Grenzau Castle (open Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 1 pm between April and September), and also in the area of Hillscheid, you will find many Roman-era memories with the Limesturm and the remains of a small Roman fort, sometimes riding along the course of the Limes.

In Ransbach-Baumbach, you could also make a small detour to Erlenhofsee.

The route mostly runs through the forest.

Approach

Exit A 48 Höhr-Grenzhausen. In the roundabout, turn right towards the Grenzau district. Immediately at the start of the district, turn sharp left onto the small parking lot (Brexbachstraße).

Public transport

You can take the bus from Koblenz with the Koveb line 7 to the last stop in Grenzhausen. About 300 m from there, the route coming from Grenzau runs. You could also park your car at the Westerwald Ceramics Museum and do the route.

Parking

Free parking in the center of Grenzau (Brexbachstraße)

Directions

The start and finish point of the route is the small parking lot in the town center of the Grenzau district.

From there, you first ride a bit into the Brexbach valley and then over the Sängerplatz (hiking shelter for a short stop - no catering) to Höhr-Grenzhausen (Grenzhausen district).

Next, the route partly goes through the town (residential areas) and over the old railway track (developed hiking and bike path) to Hillscheid. From there, it continues through the Hillscheid and Höhr forest (Nassau Nature Park) to Ransbach-Baumbach. Past the 'Baumbach cemetery,' you cross the state road L 307 (watch out!) and continue through the forest towards Hilgert. From there, it goes back towards Höhr-Grenzhausen. At the Linderhohl swimming pond facility (newly opened from 2022), turn back towards Grenzau and shortly after reach the Grenzau district again with several rest options and the starting point.

Safety instructions

It partly leads through undeveloped terrain, but this should not be a problem for mountain bikers.
