In the tour planner we inform you under the tab "Current info" about temporary route changes, closures and detours.
Your adventure begins in the charming Bad Marienberg. This route is packed with highlights, so take your time for stops. If you cycle counterclockwise and start in Bad Marienberg, you will quickly reach Großseifen. Here you will find a small art park along the bike path. Near Langenbach by Kirburg, you come across a former mining lake. As soon as you leave the village behind, you will enjoy the view over a wide plateau.
On the way to Kirburg, you will encounter a stone bridge over the Nister. From the other side, you approach Bad Marienberg again and plan a stop at the wildlife park or perhaps venture into the climbing forest to test your skills. Between Unnau-Korb and Nistertal, you make a short detour to Nisterfurt and Nistersteg. The route ends with an impressive view of the Erbacher railway bridge from the railway line above Nistertal. This bridge was opened in 1911 and was then the largest concrete bridge in Germany.
Motorway exits:
By train (www.bahn.de): to the Nistertal-Bad Marienberg station; Alternatively:

Follow the Nister bike path from Bad Marienberg towards Rennerod and ride via Großseifen to Fehl-Ritzhausen. Then take the gently ascending asphalt road to Hof. Here, the Westerwald loop leads towards Nisterberg and then downhill to Lautzenbrücken. Shortly before, the route turns right and leads to the Wiesental of the Kleine Nister. At the next junction of bike paths, head to Langenbach, and pass through the village. One kilometer further, a pleasant dirt road leads westwards to Neunkhausen. The following hilly forest path to Kirburg is about two kilometers long. From Kirburg, continue towards Bad Marienberg. The wildlife park is ideal for a stop, not only because of the animals but also due to the good gastronomy. From here (31 kilometers), you can shorten the route and go directly to Bad Marienberg or complete your circular route as planned. In this case, you cycle again into the Nister valley and return to the starting point via a new railway line.
Very good fitness required.
Distribute the weight of your equipment evenly between your body and your bicycle. Pack suitable clothing for changing weather. Don't forget tools, repair kit, and emergency equipment. Navigate with a map or a GPS device.
