Backesmuseum Gershasen

Brief description

In Gershasen, a district of Westerburg, stands the "Alte Backes". Next to the oven on the ground floor, the upper rooms house kitchen utensils from "days gone by". The exhibition includes a cozy village parlor furnished with items from earlier times, as well as tools and equipment from local oven builders and farmers. About 200 exhibits provide insight into the laborious work of housewives and farmers at that time. In pictures, you can see how the tuff stone was mined in the nearby quarries and processed into oven stones.
