To the Tour PlanerStarting and ending in Hahn am See, your village with around 400 residents sits along the historically significant Bundesstraße 8, exactly between Selters and Dornburg as well as Wirges and Westerburg. Hahn captivates with a well-established fountain column from 1870, a more than 100-year-old lime tree, and a small church from the 18th century.
The route takes you through picturesque villages and the nature of the Westerwald. Noteworthy are the half-timbered houses and ancient chapels. The small chapel in Eisen, a district of Meudt, is particularly charming. Some of these villages date back over 1,000 years. The town hall in Meudt, built in the late 16th century, is the oldest of its kind in the Westerwald.
With 14 kilometers, this brisk loop is perfect for a quick getaway. Between Selters, Dornburg, Wirges, and Westerburg, it winds through charming villages.
Coming from Cologne, take the B51, Severinsbrücke and Deutzer Ring/B55 Östliche Zubringerstraße/L124. Take A59 and A3 to B255 in Montabaur, take exit 40-Montabaur on A3. Follow the B255 until you reach Hohe Strasse in Hahn am See.
From the direction of Frankfurt, follow the Theater Tunnel, Gutleutstraße and B44 to B43. Take A3 to B255 in Heiligenroth, take exit 40-Montabaur on A3. Follow the B255 until you reach Hohe Strasse in Hahn am See.
Hahn am See cannot be reached by public transport.
Parking is available directly at the lake near the campsite.
From the town center of Hahn am See, at the intersection of Hohe Straße and Elbinger Straße, head north on Hohe Straße, then mostly downhill southward. Cross Bundesstraße 8, then traverse open terrain to Ehringhausen. Follow the forest road, then take a left turn into the woods. You'll pass through Eisen and follow L300 to Meudt. From there, take Gangolfusstraße and Waldstraße.
After an ascent, you'll pass a wooded area on the left side. Take the left curve and descend into Niederahr. Continue on the main street, then ascend to Oberahr and Ettinghausen. The path leads to Bundesstraße 8 and then eastward back to Hahn am See.
Good basic fitness required.
When carrying your gear, bags and backpacks offer ample space. Distribute the equipment across various body and bike parts to prevent discomfort. Appropriate clothing safeguards against weather and temperature changes. Tools and repair supplies are essential. Orientation aids like bike maps or GPS devices are crucial. A small emergency kit is also advisable.
For refreshment after the tour, the lake at Hahn invites you. At the Restaurant Plaza by the lake, you can enjoy delicious Mediterranean cuisine and a splendid view.
