The early medieval hill castle in Freusburg, Kirchen (Sieg), has been used as a youth hostel since 1928 and, with around 60,000 overnight stays per year, is one of the most visited youth hostels in Germany. Historian Dr. Jens Friedhoff can not only talk about the long history of the building and its noble owners, but also about the extensive remodeling by Ernst Stahl during the establishment of "model youth hostels." Dr. Friedhoff will guide you through the outdoor area and the castle cellar, the vault, the cellar, as well as the sleeping quarters and other interesting locations of the castle complex.
