Directions

The free parking lot right next to the church in Windhagen offers an ideal opportunity to park your car safely. The start is located opposite the former "Zur Post" restaurant. You walk down the path directly into the forest.

You will soon reach the idyllic Bockental valley. After a few meters, the path leads you past the Schützenhaus to the Bockental hut. It is worth taking a short break here and continuing along beautiful field paths in the direction of Johannisberg.

From there, the path leads you to Birken and the (therapy) riding stables. Cross the A3 over a bridge and continue in the direction of Günterscheid. Small tunnels, babbling brooks and varied forest passages await you along the way - pure nature.

At the end of this stage, you will arrive in Windhagen-Hohn on the main road. There you turn into the Eichenweg, which leads you into the next forest passage. Continue straight ahead until you reach the main road again, which you cross to reach the industrial area. Well-known companies are located here, some of them world market leaders. A major asset for Windhagen.

Passing under the A3 and along a small forest path, you finally reach the "Vier Winden" hotel and restaurant. A few meters further on, you will pass the old school, EDEKA, the pharmacy and the Raiffeisenbank - and you are back at your starting point in Windhagen.

Safety instructions

  • Wear sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing that is suitable for the weather and protects you from the cold and wet or the heat and sun.
  • Take enough liquid with you. Refreshment stops are not available everywhere.
  • Please wear hiking boots appropriate to the route, which will give you sufficient grip even on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths.
  • If you are of the opinion that certain sections of the trail are not suitable for you, you should avoid them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, muddy and slippery passages can occur on near-natural paths.
  • Particularly in the fall, you should also be aware that leaves lying on the ground can hide uneven surfaces, roots, stones or holes in the path. You have to expect this type of path impairment when you go on a hike.
  • Although the path is very well marked throughout, you should always have a suitable hiking map with you for safety reasons.
