Brief description

Villa Grün is located on the Schlossberg near the Wilhelmsturm. It was built in 1914 in neoclassical style. Since 1983, it has housed the Museum of Economic History.

Detailed description

The neoclassical villa of the mine owner Carl Grün was built in 1914/15 and has housed the Museum of Economic History since 1983. Artefacts and precisely reproduced scenes showing industrial and artisan production in the Dill region are impressively presented in extensive exhibits spanning over 20 rooms. The kitchen exhibition, with realistic scenes from the Middle Ages to the modern era, and the extensive, media-rich mining exhibition on the ground floor are particularly fascinating. During the season, diverse special exhibitions also expand the interesting permanent ones, making a visit even more worthwhile. As in the Wilhelmsturm Tower, one of the rooms can again be used as a wedding chamber for the town of Dillenburg.
