The bronze statue welcomes visitors to Dillenburg's old town.
The medieval lute player was erected as a sign of international understanding and friendship between the Orange towns of Breda (Netherlands), Diest (Belgium), Orange (France) and Dillenburg. The four coats of arms of the cities can be seen on the base of the statue.
